You’ve been advised to see a Podiatrist so how can you do this?! A lot of people will be recommended to see a Podiatrist by their Doctor, a family member, or friend. That’s all well and good but there can be a few unknowns with what steps to take next in making a Podiatry appointment! There can be a few questions that pop up; What is a Podiatrist? What can a Podiatrist do to help me? These are all great questions that we can help to answer right now!

You will be glad to know there is a very simple process to make your first Podiatry appointment at Pod Fit Podiatry. If you are not really sure where to start or this is your first time to see a Podiatrist that is completely okay and we can certainly help you out. A Podiatrist is a University trained professional who treats all foot, ankle and leg issues. Podiatrists help to treat any and many foot, ankle and leg issues including (but not limited to) conditions listed below!

Rest assured that no referral is required from your Doctor and you are able to book straight in for your initial Podiatry appointment right now!

A typical Podiatry treatment session will start with your Podiatrist taking a full history of your concern. Getting the full story is such an important part of the appointment to discover how Podiatry will help fix your issue! Our Podiatrist will then provide a thorough assessment (usually includes watching you walk or run, 3D foot pressure assessment, hands on assessment, a skin and nail check, and looking at your shoes). After this is completed, an explanation is provided which pieces together your story. We will explain how to get your issue better from here!

At your very first appointment hands on treatment is provided to give immediate pain relief straight away! There are many hands on treatments that are used at Pod Fit Podiatry, including use of shockwave therapy, dry needling, foot and ankle mobilisation therapy, and any skin on nail care treatment. You will be provided with a written management plan at the end of your appointment which will outline your treatment plan ahead!

Whatever your goal may be with treatment, our friendly Podiatrists will help you to get your issue sorted so that you can walk, run and exercise without any issues once again!

Our Podiatrists will listen to understand you and your story. We provide a full assessment, explanation of findings, and hands on treatment at your very first appointment. Hands on treatment helps to reduce pain as quickly as possible. You will receive a written treatment plan at your first appointment, including home care advice which may include strengthening or mobility exercises to assist with pain relief.

Please bring along the shoes that you most often wear including work shoes, casual shoes, and special occasion shoes. If you’ve previously had custom orthotics bring these along to your appointment for assessment also. If you’ve had any scans or investigations done before it is helpful to bring them along too. Be sure to wear loose fitting or sports clothing to allow a better assessment and access to your problem area for treatment.

No referrals are required to see a Podiatrist for private Podiatry clients, you can book an appointment straight away!

If you are attending through a workcover injury, through third party insurance claims, or through Department Of Veterans Affairs (DVA) a valid referral must be provided before your appointment.

We accept all health funds for an immediate rebate. We have HICAPS facilities at all our clinic locations so you are able to claim private health insurances on the spot for your Podiatry treatment. Please remember to bring your card with you for an immediate rebate.
