Access Health Experts With Telehealth Technology
Accessing essential health services is not always convenient or possible, which is why Physio Fit proudly offers online physiotherapy sessions to all of our clients, both in Adelaide and around Australia.
Online consultations are an effective way to meet with an expert physiotherapist from the comfort of your own home. Experts are at hand to help you to get clarity on injury management, get you out of pain, and create a plan to get you back to what you love doing as fast as possible. With the growing demand for convenience and in-home services, this is the next evolution of professional physiotherapy services.
Our online physiotherapy consultations empower you to take control of your pain and to get amazing results. You may be surprised by just how effective online consultations can be. Recent research showing that they are a viable alternative to in-person consultations for people who have musculoskeletal injuries. This means you can benefit from the same long term outcomes for a wide range of conditions.
We understand that sessions via the internet may seem counterintuitive at first. And we understand the main reason you come to see a physiotherapist isn’t because you are in pain, it’s because that pain is now preventing you from doing something that is important or necessary in your life. But there’s a common misconception that you need hands-on manual therapy from your physiotherapist to feel better. We now have extensive research that shows that we can help you achieve the exact same result without putting a hand on you. The most important thing is that you hit your goal and can do everything you’d like to in life without restriction. We are 100% confident that our Telehealth consultations can help you to attain this.
Who are these physiotherapy services for?
Online physiotherapy consults are ideal for people who:
- Would like to save time, avoid dealing with traffic and have the convenience of consulting with a health professional in their own home
- Are unable to attend the clinic location due to extenuating circumstances
- Would like access to the best physiotherapists who may not be available in the area they live
- Don’t like the physical touch involved in an in-person session
- Have restrictions, such as injury or disability, which prevent them from travelling
- Have been given a diagnosis, but would like an expert second opinion
- Live overseas or in a rural or remote area
What does an online physiotherapy consult look like?
We empathise that being in pain can be a confusing and frustrating experience, which is often made worse by all of the conflicting information on the internet regarding your specific issue or injury. We aim to simplify the process from start to finish so you will feel comfortable from day one knowing you are in good hands and we pride ourselves on being world-class listeners; because we know the biggest frustration for most people in healthcare is not being listened to properly.
Prior to your online consult our Physiotherapist will:
- Have you fill in a health screening form to learn a bit about you & ensure your specific issue is suitable for a consultation
- Ensure you have the appropriate system on your device for the telehealth consultation
Once on the video consultations our Physiotherapist will find out and help to give you clarity on:
- Your goals (what is the meaningful change you are looking for)
- What’s wrong (the likely diagnosis)
- Why it is there (education of the root cause of your issue)
- An individualised plan to achieve your goals
We will then provide the treatment, advice, education and rehabilitation exercises needed to get you out of discomfort and back to what you love doing as fast as possible.
How does it work?
Your private and individual sessions are conducted using Cliniko which is our online physiotherapy software, requiring no download at all. It is 100% safe and secure.
When you book an appointment (online or over the phone) you will get a confirmation email with a link that allows you to easily jump into the video call at the time of your appointment. That way, when your appointment time arrives, all you need to do is follow the link, and you will be whisked away to the virtual treatment room where you’ll join your practitioner. No login or password is required—just one click and you’re in!
We also ask that you are in a quiet place with enough room to do some basic movements and exercise, and are wearing clothes that allow you to perform this as you would normally at your Physio session.
Security and compliance
All video calls are secured with end-to-end encryption and meet the same strict privacy and security standards. You can rest easy knowing your consultations are kept between just you and our clinic

Online rehabilitation programming
Rehabilitation programs are an essential part of successful physiotherapy management plans. One of our main roles, after we have helped to decrease your pain, is to design a rehabilitation plan that slowly grades you back into the type of activity you’d like to be doing. This controlled grading of movement and exercise can be done very effectively with online programming, with our large range of exercises online. All of this information is then collated into a simple and easy to understand treatment and exercise program that we will help to keep you accountable to.
The easiest way to understand the importance of gradual loading of any movement or exercise is to imagine you are going to go for a 10 kilometre run, and you don’t run often, it is very likely that you have some discomfort the next day; however if you were to start with 1 kilometre and build your tolerance up over a 12 week period to then run 10 kilometres, it is likely you would have little to no issue with this run. The same is true with any activity, we must gradually increase the load that your body can handle.
Online physiotherapy services and chronic pain
It may surprise you to learn that online treatment is one of the most effective strategies for injury management. It is effective because it eliminates the possibility of reliance on passive therapy (manual therapy) from the physiotherapist. In this state, one of the biggest risk factors in not improving is a reliance on your therapist for pain relief, the feeling as though you are in the passenger of your healthcare journey.
We aim to put you back in the driver’s seat, with thorough advice and education. There are many factors at play. It can be reassuring to know that the structure, eg the disc in your back that was the original issue, is no longer the actual cause of the issue. Your brain has maladapted over time to recognise certain movements as dangerous and therefore cause the uncomfortable sensations.
As mentioned above in the online rehabilitation program section, our role in this issue is to gradually expose you to these movements and activities over time via our exercise program. We help your brain to adapt positively to perform these movements without pain.

Yes, an online session can help you to get the same outcome and release your muscle tightness, only via a different way than you normally would. We can take you through a range of movements and create an exercise program that empowers you to be in control and feel great.
How can a physiotherapist treat me online?
You may be wondering how online physiotherapy consultations actually work, because the general perception of what a physiotherapist does is hands on manual therapy work with you, the patient, on the bed. And if this was still the crux of our role as physiotherapists then you would be absolutely correct, however there is now a large body of evidence to show that active rehabilitation (exercise therapy) is the most effective tool to ensure you become empowered to be pain free long term; exercise is medicine.
How do I pay for my online physiotherapy consultation?
If you book online, at the time of booking you will be asked to process the payment through our online booking system to confirm your booking.
If you book over the phone, we will take your payment over the phone at the time of booking.

Can I use NDIS for online physiotherapy consults?
