Today’s society is getting more sedentary, less active, and consequently more overweight. Many individuals fail to stick to positive health and lifestyle changes due to a lack of goal setting and monitoring. Often there is a lack of support or conflicting information that can make these changes difficult.
At Physio Fit, we can help you challenge what is now considered the norm and work towards a healthier you. We can help develop short and long term goals, as well as set up strategies to help you stick to them.
Why we are the right FIT for you!
With qualifications in strength and conditioning, our team can offer you an appropriate exercise/fitness program that meets your needs, whether that be to lose weight, increase muscle mass or improve your speed and power for your given sport.
From a monitoring point of view, Physio Fit also offers skinfold and body composition measurements to keep you motivated. All skinfold measurements are taken by our physiotherapists who have completed a university course in anthropometry, to ensure you receive the most accurate and precise results. As you see yourself every day, small improvements and changes may not be noticed. Having measurements that can be reassessed however, can help highlight your progress and keep you on track to meet your future goals.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR CONSULT
Body Composition Analysis
Do you want a fast, non-invasive, reliable assessment of your body composition?
Well here it is!
Physio Fit, in partnership with NutriFit, utilises InBody Body Composition Analysers, the latest technology available on the market for accurate and effective body composition testing. The InBody Body Composition Analysers are the only Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis machines with results that have a 98% correlation to a DEXA scan.
Whether your goals are fat loss or increasing lean muscle mass, Our team can provide you with a comprehensive analysis to help you stay on track.
Measurements include (but are not limited to):
Skinfold assessments involve taking a measurement on several sites throughout the body in order to gauge overall fat loss as you progress through your training and nutrition program. A typical skinfold assessment takes up to 30 minutes as the procedure involves marking out landmarks on the body to find seven skinfold sites, before taking multiple recordings at each site to ensure precision of results. Once completed we can use these numbers to see where you store fat, as well as see where you tend to lose it from over time. At Physio Fit we use only the top of the line equipment, Harpenden Skinfold Calipers, in order to ensure you get the most accurate results.
Note: Please wear loose fitting clothing to allow your physiotherapist access to all sites for most accurate results.
An important part of tracking change when aiming to lose fat or gain muscle is to take regular measurements over different landmarks on your body. This is because as you exercise you often build muscle whilst simultaneously lose fat and this may mean that at the end of the month the scales tell you that you have made no progress, when in actual fact girth measurements combined with skinfolds will show that you have lost fat mass and gained muscle mass.
If your exercise program doesn’t include accurate tracking of the important variables to keep you accountable and motivated maybe it’s time to contact Physio Fit!
Your Physiotherapy appointment will consist of:
Listening – We listen to understand you, what activities you enjoy, how your problem has presented and how it affects your life.
Accurate diagnosis – We may need to refer you for diagnostic imaging such as MRI, X-Ray or ultrasound.
Assessing & addressing the causative factors to your injury – We settle your pain & address the reason why it presented.
This will allow us to create a personalised management plan, in which we will encompass your goals, a clear diagnosis and a time frame to achieve these within.
We are passionate about what we do and we are here to guide you every step of the way!
Appropriate Clothing – We may be getting you to do some exercise as part of your assessment. Please, dress appropriately for this if possible.
Previous Medical Imaging Results – If you have had any imaging done for your current injury, please bring these along to your appointment. If you don’t have access to them, that’s completely fine - we will be able to access them if we need to.
Referral – A referral isn’t required to see a physiotherapist privately. However, if you are part of the Medicare EPC, DVA, Work Cover or Third Party Insurance programs, you will need to bring your referral on the day.
Private Health Insurance Card – We require you to have your Private Health Insurance card with you to claim your rebate on the spot through HICAPS.
If you are a private physiotherapy client then no referral is required and you can book in as soon as it fits into your schedule. If you have an injury which is covered by either DVA, Medicare EPC, Work Cover or Third Party Insurance programs, then you will need to bring this along; otherwise you can pay the full appointment fee and claim back later from the relevant program above.
We have HICAPS terminals at both of our clinics which allows us to process your private health insurance claim on the spot, meaning that you only have to pay the ‘gap’ remaining.
